What is in a share??????

How many people does a Black Kettle Farm CSA share feed?

That is without a doubt the most frequent of the "frequently asked questions", that and, "do you have a tractor?"
The tractor question is easy.  Yes, two.

The amount of people a share feeds is a tough one.  It really depends on how often you cook at home and now committed you are to "eating within the box", i.e. sticking to eating local and with the season and with the abundance that the farm provides, waiting for tomatoes, having salad more often then not, looking up recipes for kohlrabi and the like.

Some couples power through their share and are more then ready for the fresh harvest when the week is up to meet the needs of their kale addiction.  Other families work through their produce, cooking when they can, but also eating out and consistently having meat in their diets.  Members of the Black Kettle Farm crew easily eat 3 shares a week each.  No exaggeration, we love, love, love our veggies!
Greens at every meal and at least a pound of carrots a day!

Each member could answer this question differently.  Only you know how much chard and how many cukes you can consume.

So check it out!  The proof is in the produce!
See below each and every harvest of the 2012 growing season.  That is the true story of the Black Kettle abundance.

Every season is different, and certainly no guarantees for what the summer of 2013 holds, but this gives a great idea of what is to come.

As always, CSA members contribute $500 and receive 10% more in value in produce, it's the BKF collaborative way!

Here's to hefty harvests to come!
