There's no denying it, Black Kettle Farm Season III is underway.
Things are settling in and settling down after the major moving event this fall from the sandy lowlands of Alfred to the breezy ridges and rocky soils of Lyman. Perched up on the tippy, tippy top of a ridge, the farm held it down even in the fiercest of storms this winter and the blusteriest days so far this spring.
The newly constructed greenhouse is a warm and happy incubator for onions, leeks, tons of greens, lettuce and herbs right now, gearing up to welcome tomatoes, peppers, and eggplants next week.
New equipment is being acquired, old equipment is being fixed, visions for phase one barn revamping are in the works and the kick off of the Portsmouth Farmer's market is just 'round the corner.
The field is now fully, and hopefully permanently, cleared of snow, pretty soggy, but looking good.
