Yesterday, on the last day of April, I plowed the fields in preparation for the 2011 growing season. I took the back road from Lyman to Alfred on Blueberry Hill, in vest and scarf, under a blue sky, but not warm enough sun. The generous folks at Wolf Pine Farm let me borrow their two bottom Mold Board plow for the third year in a row. I swung on by, scooped it up, pulled last years weeds off and headed over to Greg Reed's little field by the river. Three varieties of onions, hopefully big fat leeks and spicy scallions are destined to fill this sandy soil.
